Frequently asked questions

A few things
you might be wondering.

Stirwell is still in development. Here’s what to know about the app we’re building.

The essentials

A little clarity.

Can I download Stirwell yet?

Not yet. Stirwell is in development for iPhone. There isn’t a public App Store download or a confirmed release date to share right now.

Will I need an account?

No account is required for the core local experience. The current app keeps your recipes, pantry and shopping data on your device. Accounts are an optional addition.

Does it work without an internet connection?

The core local features are designed to work offline with data already stored on your device. Signing in, cloud sync and any online provider lookup need an internet connection.

Does signing in upload my data?

No. Signing in alone does not upload your existing local data. Optional cloud sync is being tested with a separate, explicit enrolment step tied to a device and account.

Enabling sync can upload eligible records and recipe photos and bring cloud records onto the device, based on the choices you review first.

Can I add my own recipes?

Yes. The current app supports your own dishes, ingredients and method steps. Your saved recipes remain editable, rather than being replaced by recipe templates.

What if an ingredient isn’t in the database?

You can create a custom ingredient or product. Generic ingredients and branded products are kept separate, and a product can be mapped to an ingredient where appropriate.

A custom food does not automatically receive invented nutrition data. Nutrition values need a supported source or values you provide.

How does meal planning connect to shopping?

The current weekly planner connects recipes and serving quantities to shopping requirements. Pantry quantities help determine what’s missing, so a list can be based on what you plan to cook rather than everything in a recipe.

How accurate are the nutrition values?

Nutrition is an estimate based on the available ingredient or product data, quantities and any supported conversions. Food type, preparation and portions can affect the result. Missing data is shown as missing, not silently counted as zero.

The app’s generic catalogue uses the Australian Food Composition Database as a preferred baseline, with additional sourced data where needed. Nutrition information is for general food planning, not personalised dietary or medical advice.

What happens when I sign out or delete an account?

Signing out keeps your local recipes, pantry and shopping data on the device. The current account-deletion flow deletes the online account and its associated cloud data; local data is retained unless you remove it separately.

Account and sync behaviour is still being verified before public release. This FAQ is not a substitute for the final privacy policy.

Will it cost anything?

Pricing hasn’t been announced. We’ll share it clearly before public release.
